Housing and Logistics

Housing

Trainees, when ashore, will live in the recently renovated Oakcliff  Bunkhouse, a large dormitory located above the classroom space and boat shop, truly making the Oakcliff facilities a campus with added bonus of allowing for complete supervision. Trainees will have easy access to their clothing, a shower, snacks, and a comfortable place to spend their downtime. Those under 18 will be supervised by Residential Assistants from the Sapling Program during evenings, and by Oakcliff faculty and the RAs during the day. They will share single-gender bunk rooms with not more than eight athletes per room. For Adults who are dropping into the programs for shorter periods of time, there are also reasonably priced options that do not involve bunk beds here.

Arrival/Departure

Please plan to arrive in the morning on the first scheduled day of the program. Trainees arriving by plane should schedule their travel to arrive before noon at LaGuardia or JFK Airport. Please do not schedule flights into Newark. Drop-off trainees should arrive by 2 pm on the first day of their program. Please see our Getting to Oakcliff page for airport transfer information.

Departure flights should be scheduled in the afternoon on the last day of the program. Departures between 4-6pm are best, but we understand that flight availability and pricing limit the choices. Parents picking up their Acorns and Saplings should plan to arrive between 3-5pm on the final day of the program.

Mail

Acorns will have regular opportunities to make phone calls and check their email. They can also receive mail at:
