Sophia Schultz is a 19-year-old sailor and student at New College of Florida in Sarasota, FL. She started racing at an early age on Optis, Lasers, and 420s with Sarasota Youth Sailing. In 2011, Sophia began racing F16s by crewing for John Casey and later transitioned to skippering. Sophia now sails on her college’s sailing team and F16s with her brother, Nico. She is here at Oakcliff for the High Performance and Offshore Sailing Programs on the Jacques and Anne Rogge Olympic Pathways Scholarship that was presented to her at the 2013 Youth Champs. She hopes to continue broadening her high performance sailing knowledge and gaining new experiences from sailing a variety of boats while at Oakcliff.
