Marianna Shand

Hi my name is Marianna Shand. My biggest aspiration in sailing is to go the olympics in the Nacra 17. I’ve been sailing the boat on and off for about a year now. I sail mainly the Nacra 15, but once I acquire a Nacra 17 then I would love to transition fully into that boat.

 I grew up sailing sabots in San Diego, then some lasers, but the Nacra caught my eye above all the rest. Being faster than everyone else really spiked my interest. I began sailing F18s at 13 with my F18 fleet at Mission Bay in San Diego then started sailing Nacra 15s at 15 in San Francisco. I loved it so much. Every other boat got ruined for me after sailing the Nacra. Sailing catamarans was be the best opportunity I’ve ever had in the sailing world, I don’t plan on wasting it.
