Joe Richter

Joe is a sixteen-year-old sailor who primarily sails C-420s out of Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club. Joe started sailing when he was four in a Sunfish and then progressed through various junior programs in the Optimist, moving on to sail the C-420 when he was thirteen. Joe grew up sailing in many Opti and 420 regattas and team races throughout New Jersey and some out-of-state, some of which he won or placed highly in.

For Joe, the Inshore/Match Racing Program is a stepping-off point into the world of racing larger boats and match racing as a whole.

His family moved from Little Silver, NJ to Hanover, NH in the summer of 2018. Joe spends his summers sailing in New Jersey and the other three seasons in New Hampshire. Off the water, you can find Joe working on computer hardware and software.
