05 Jan Bill Simon
Bill Simon joined Oakcliff in 2010 and was our Race Program Director for 8 years. During that time, he put to good use his MBA in Finance and 30-plus years of small business experience as CFO and COO. As the Race Program Director he scheduled and organized a variety of events including all of the match racing regattas and clinics, the Oakcliff Triple Crown Series with fleet race umpiring, and the race official seminars and training. Bill ran the Wednesday night fleet racing with coaching. He is known for building relationships with the other sailing organizations in the area. Taking advantage of the training offered at Oakcliff, Bill became a Club Race Officer and a Regional Judge and Umpire. Bill serves as the Chairman of the US Sailing Match Racing Championship Committee and is also apart of the US Sailing Match Racing Committee. He works diligently to grow Match Racing in the US and abroad. Bill is the Chair of the Judges Educational Testing and Training Subcommittee through which he is working with a group of Judges to continue to increase the number of seminars, roundtables, Protest Days, clinics and webinars. He is eager to combine his background and sailing passion into programs that will assist Oakcliff Sailing in its mission, as well as supporting Acorns and Saplings in preparing for sailing industry careers.
Bill and his wife have relocated to Annapolis where he remains involved with Oakcliff as the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors.
